Getting Started
…and finishing strong

01: Referral

If you suspect or know your child needs therapy, speak to your pediatrician and request a referral to ABC Pediatric Therapy.

If you are currently receiving therapy elsewhere, simply have your pediatrician send a new referral to our clinic.

02: Evaluation

Once you’re referred to our clinic, we will discuss insurance details and schedule an initial evaluation. Wait times vary, but initial evaluations are usually available in 2-4 weeks.

Patients transferring from other providers may not need a new evaluation. Contact our clinic to discuss bypassing the initial evaluation.

03: Scheduling

Your therapist will recommend a therapy plan, collect scheduling preferences, and add you to our waiting list for an ongoing appointment. Wait times vary and are impacted by patient schedule limitations; a 3-6 week wait is common. While waiting for a permanent time slot, our scheduler can offer weekly, single sessions when availability allows.

Most children have 1-2 therapy sessions per week. Speech sessions are 30 minutes, while Physical Therapy are 60 minutes.

04: Therapy

Children will be assigned a primary therapist for their ongoing sessions. Caregivers will wait in our waiting room or join the session based on child’s comfort level. Every session ends with a caregiver chat to review progress and offer resources to carry over skills at home.

As your child reaches their goals, or at least once per year, your therapist will conduct a re-evaluation to determine whether continued therapy or discharge is appropriate.
